“Must Do When in Tuscany”

Truffle Hunting and cooking class was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. Francesca and chocho were incredible. We found a black and white truffles. And then cooking with Enrique and Mary Louisa was so much fun. Even though we didn't speak Italian, and they didn't speak alot of english, we were able to communicate and make a delicious meal. Everyone was so warm and friendly. Felt like family.

“Best day out truffles, food, wine & dog - perfect”

We booked the truffle & chianti tour from Florence. Our guide Hilary was fantastic, very funny and also very knowledgable. She's a master sommelier so her insight on the wine was second to none.

At the farm we met Choco the lovely truffle dog, and as soon as we started off the hunt he immediately found a couple of truffles. We found around 8 in total.

On return we had wine tasting, with cheeses, prosciutto and truffles helping understand how wine is very different with food. Then had a beautiful truffle pasta.

On return to Florence Hilary stopped off at a great viewpoint, so we could get great pictures of the city

The trip is quite pricey, but definitely worth it. It's. It not every day you get to find truffles, have amazing food and wine and the knowledge/ entertainment of a great guide.

“Something very different and awesome!”

My husband and I found out about truffle hunting through a friend and we decided to try it for ourselves during our visit to Florence. It turned out to be one of the highlights on our trip so we're so glad we did this! Fabian was so informative and is really great at what he does! He took us to a beautiful villa where we met Francesca, her family, and Choco the truffle hunting dog! During our hunt, we forgot to bring bug spray but Fabian was there to the rescue so we were fine! After finding a few truffles, Francesca cooked with the truffles and made for us an unforgettable meal including an assortment of bruschetta and salad for appetizer, gnocchi, and crepes with grapes for dessert. We were stuffed and beyond satisfied. The day wasn't over yet... Vittorio took us to see the Tower of Federico II in the town of Enna which was a good work out after the meal walking up the stairs. We then ended the trip at a local winery where we did olive oil and wine tasting. It was a great experience and we can't stop talking about!

“Incredible experience in the Tuscan hills! ”

This is an incredible, can't miss experience out of Firenze, so let me start off by saying DO NOT BE LATE FOR THIS TOUR. Vittorio and his team have packed an exceptional amount of activities and fun into a short time so by being late you are doing a disservice to not only yourself, the other people on the tour, but Vittorio and his team as well. The tour left about 30 minutes late because we did wait a bit for one couple who did not show up (their loss clearly).

We booked the Truffle and Chianti tour and met Katherine, our guide, and another couple from Hong Kong/NYC on the steps of the National Library close to the river in Firenze. Katherine is a trained wine maker who was raised and educated in the U.S. before moving to Firenze about 10 years ago. She speaks English, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese, and is tremendously passionate about Italy, wine and food. She took us by van to our first stop a small villa in the hills above San Miniato, about a 40 minute ride. At the villa we met Francesca and her truffle hunting dog Cioco who were both very friendly! Together we all went into various wooded areas on Francesca's property to search for truffles. Cioco was quite good, finding about 8-10 black truffles despite the heat in the hour or so we spent truffle hunting.

After the hunt we went back to Francesca's villa for a lunch prepared by Francesca and her mother, and a small wine tasting. The meal started off with an antipasto plate heavily featuring white and black truffles: everything was absolutely delicious. After the antipasto we each had a dish of gnocchi with white truffle sauce which was fantastic as well, and we finished with some light dessert. During the entire meal Katherine was guiding us through a wine tasting of various Super Tuscan and Sangiovese wines which paired with various different parts of the meal. She was extremely knowledgeable about wine, but not pretentious at all which was great for relative wine newbies like us. Picking her brain about wine culture was one of the more fascinating parts of the trip!

The next stop was the Fattoria San Michele A Torri, a farm and vineyard in Chianti Classico where some great wine and olive oil is produced. After a short tour of the production facility we had another wine tasting including DOCG Chianti Classicos and more Super Tuscans. Again, Katherine was incredible in providing knowledge and answering (possibly stupid) questions without being snobbish or condescending.

Both locations had some great products for sale, and although we didn't end up purchasing much we at no point felt any pressure to do so. The entire tour was incredible, relaxing and casual. Definitely, definitely book this tour if you have any interest it is worth every last cent. Thank you Katherine, Vittorio, Francesca and the rest of the team for a wonderful day!

“Such a great experience!”

My husband and I went on the truffle walking tour with Francesca and Choco (the star of the show!) in June of 2015. We had the most wonderful experience. We got to walk into the woods with Francesca and Choco and learned how they find truffles. We also got to learn how she trained Choco to do what he does. After a nice walk and some successful hunting (lots of truffles were found), we came back to the villa for a magnificent lunch. Do not be fooled by the description... this is a full meal. After all the truffle delights, including cheese, salad, pasta, bruschetta, dessert and multiple glasses of wine, you might not even have room for dinner!

“Choco, the little champion!”

My sister and I went on the truffle hunt with Choco and his two owners, Francesca and Vittorio. Vittorio had arranged a special hunt just so we would be able to go on the truffle hunt as they are usually only run on Mondays and Thursdays but that wouldn't fit with our itinerary.

Choco is an incredible little truffle hunting dog; just the sweetest and very intelligent. We had a lot of fun chasing after him while he sniffed out truffles. Though Vittorio initially warned that we might not find truffles since it had not rained for a few weeks prior to the hunt, Choco was still able to sniff up several truffles! Vittorio also told us all about the history of truffle hunting in the region and told us some history of Florence and the outlying regions. We had a very delightful morning trekking through the Tuscan countryside looking for truffles.

The lunch that Francesca prepared was also unbelievably delicious.Truly highlighted all of the bountiful fruits that the Tuscany region provides. We were able to bring back some homemade truffle butter, honey, and a bottle of Tuscany Vin Santo wine.

Would highly recommend the experience to anyone!

“Best birthday present I've ever had”

This trip was bought as a present for my birthday from my wife, what a fantastic day out.
We were met be a very friendly and knowledgable gent called Vittori, on the drive towards San Miniato he gave lots of info which continued throughout the day along with his entertaining manner. We then arrived at the family home of Francesca and Chocco the dog, we were greeted by her father who, whilst he spoke little English, enthused about the winery and its surroundings.
The setting was beautiful, we went truffle hunting in the woods and Chocco did not dissapoint he found seven good size truffles, in less than one hour, we were then invited into the family dining area where we were served a delicious meal of truffle related appetizers, a main meal which was topped with truffle shavings, and a trio of deserts, all washed down with various wines (including a desert wine), which were all produced in their own winery. We had a tour of this winery, which again showcased Vittori knowledge, we then visited the village of San Miniato before embarking on the journey back to florence, which can be very tiring after the wine consumed with lunch.
The whole experience was a once in a lifetime event, which was made special by the families willinness to open up their home for us, their enthusiasm for everything they do, and also the limited number they allow on this tour.
This is definately a trip not to be missed and is a much better time spent than standing in a long queue waiting, to then get bussled around in a museum.

“Looking for good food, wine and people? The hunt is over!”

An absolute 'must' for those wishing to get into the Tuscan countryside. We had a tour of 7 people, led by our excellent guide Katherin.
Our hosts for the truffle hunting were lovely, with the best thing being we didn't feel as if we were being processed as customers. We were welcomed in before Francesca and cocco led us on our hunt.
A great walk through the forest before heading back for a leisurely lunch - a beautiful meal in the most delightful setting in the November sun, all with some fine wine.
There was no big push for anyone to buy. A short visit to their chapel and to see the wild boar before we headed off to a Chianti vineyard. Again, we were given lots of information without pressure to buy. Overall, the best day of our trip, led extremely well and accompanied by an excellent group of fellow travellers.

What a joy - We loved it!

Our tour guide and sommelier, Hillary met us at the designated spot, and drove us in a modern air-conditioned van to San Miniato. She taught us so many things about Italy, Italian culture, and food. She was very happy to answer all of our questions.
We got to our destination, an amazing villa, where we met Francesca, the owner, chef, truffle hunter, wine maker- you name it! We walked through the forest with the truffle dog, who found a lot of truffles. We learned about the different types of truffles, and how the dog is trained to find them.
We walked back to the villa and started our feast. I thought that I knew some things about wine, but Hillary taught us so, so much, with her very easy style of communication. Each wine was paired with our different courses, which had lots and lots of truffles. Yum! Francesca put out a meal that was simply amazing, plus there were extra shaved truffles if we wanted some more. I enjoyed the wine tasting and meal so much. We then got to see the church and winery. I loved talking to Francesca and Hillary so much, that I could have stayed all day. This was a one of a kind experience and worth the money.
If you have the opportunity to do this tour, you must do it. You won't be disappointed. It is the best!
