White Truffle Fairs in Tuscany 2026: Dates, Places and What to Expect
Dates and places of the main white truffle fairs in Tuscany, October–November 2026: San Miniato, San Giovanni d'Asso, Montaione, Volterra and the Mugello.

Every autumn the white truffle (Tuber magnatum Pico) turns Tuscan villages into small capitals of taste. Between the end of October and the end of November, towns around San Miniato, Siena, Volterra and the Mugello open their streets to truffle markets, cooking shows, wine and local products. Here is our guide to the main fairs of the 2026 season, with dates and places.
Dates come from the organisers' and local tourist listings at the time of writing. Programmes can change, so please check the official page of each event before you travel.
Late October: the season opens
- 23–25 October, Ponte a Egola (San Miniato, Pisa). 12th Sagra del Tartufo Bianco delle Colline Sanminiatesi, the first appointment in the capital of the Tuscan white truffle.
- 24–25 October, Montaione (Florence). The 33rd Tartufesta, held every year on the last weekend of October in the historic centre: truffle and local products market, cooking shows with well-known chefs, guided walks in the woods and tastings.
- 24–25 October and 31 October–1 November, Volterra (Pisa). Volterragusto, the 28th white truffle fair of the Alta Val di Cecina, in the Etruscan town with cured meats, cheeses, honey and wine.
- 24–25 October, Barberino di Mugello (Florence). The 21st Mostra Mercato del Tartufo Bianco e Nero, a good choice if you want a fair north of Florence.
- 30 October–1 November, La Serra (San Miniato, Pisa). The 19th Sagra del Tartufo Bianco Sanminiatese, a village festival with truffle dishes.
November: the big fairs
- 7–8 and 14–15 November, San Giovanni d'Asso (Crete Senesi, Siena). The 40th Mostra Mercato del Tartufo Bianco delle Crete Senesi, in the castle village. Expect guided truffle hunts, a market of local products, art exhibitions and gala dinners with starred chefs in the castle (on 7 November with Castiglion del Bosco, on 14 November with Castello Banfi).
- 7–15 November, Scarperia e San Piero (Florence). Sagra del Tartufo Bianco, Nero e Tortello, in the Mugello.
- 14–15, 21–22 and 28–29 November, San Miniato (Pisa). The 55th Mostra Mercato Nazionale del Tartufo Bianco delle Colline Sanminiatesi, the most important white truffle fair in Tuscany. It fills the historic centre for three weekends in a row.
San Miniato: the heart of the season
San Miniato sits between Florence and Pisa and is one of the few places in the world where the white truffle grows in the wild. The national fair is the reference for the whole region: stalls with fresh truffles, wine and local producers, cooking demonstrations, and restaurants offering truffle menus. Plan your visit for a weekend, and arrive early, as the old town gets busy by lunchtime.
Tips for visiting a truffle fair
- Go in the morning, when the stalls are fresh and the crowds are smaller.
- Ask to smell before you buy. A good white truffle has an intense, clean aroma, and it should be eaten within a few days.
- Book lunch ahead on fair weekends, especially in San Miniato and San Giovanni d'Asso.
- Parking in the historic centres is limited, so use the signposted car parks.
Go further: hunt the truffle yourself
A fair shows you the truffle on the stall. A hunt shows you where it comes from: a truffle hunter and a trained dog in the woods, then a tasting. If you are in Tuscany during the season, join one of our shared truffle experiences or book a private truffle hunt, and combine it with a weekend at one of the fairs above.
