San Miniato is the Tuscan hill town where our truffle hunts start, about 45 minutes from Florence. You can get there by train and a short taxi ride, by car, or with a private driver. Here is how each option works, with the times and prices we checked in October 2026.

Florence to San Miniato at a Glance

By train: 40 to 45 minutes, direct, from Florence Santa Maria Novella to San Miniato-Fucecchio. The fare is 6.60 euros each way.
From the station to the fattoria: a local taxi, 30 euros per ride for up to 3 passengers, paid in cash to the driver.
By car: about 45 minutes from Florence.
With a private driver: 250 euros for up to 3 people, 300 euros for up to 8.

By Train from Florence Santa Maria Novella

Regional trains leave Florence Santa Maria Novella for San Miniato-Fucecchio about every hour, and the ride is direct. The tour at the fattoria starts at 11:00, so these are the trains we suggest on a weekday or a Saturday:

Leave Florence at 09:53 and arrive at 10:33. This is the train we recommend.
Leave Florence at 09:38 and arrive at 10:19, if you want more time before the start.

For the way back, trains leave San Miniato-Fucecchio for Florence in the afternoon and evening, for example at 14:24, 14:38, 16:24, 16:38, 18:24 and 18:38 on a weekday, and the ride takes about 45 minutes. Count on some time for the taxi to the station after your lunch.

From the Station to the Fattoria by Taxi

A local taxi takes you from San Miniato-Fucecchio station to Fattoria Collebrunacchi, where Francesca welcomes you. The ride costs 30 euros for up to 3 passengers and is paid in cash directly to the driver. It is not included in the price of the tour. If you travel in a larger group, you need one taxi for every 3 people.
